Google recently announced that its Workspace business users have now fully obtained the Gemini AI upgrade feature of Sheets. This innovative feature aims to significantly improve the data processing efficiency and visual performance of spreadsheets through artificial intelligence technology. Although Google had previewed the update last month, Friday's official launch marks the full launch of the feature, bringing a brand new data processing experience to commercial users.

The core advantage of Gemini AI lies in its powerful data analysis capabilities. This feature allows users to quickly extract key insights from spreadsheets, including but not limited to correlation analysis, trend recognition, and outlier detection. These features are particularly suitable for scenarios where data is needed to be deeply mined, such as marketing effectiveness evaluation and financial data analysis. In addition, Gemini has introduced enhanced data visualization capabilities, where users can now generate advanced charts such as heat maps and insert them directly into spreadsheet cells as static images, making the data expression more intuitive and convincing.
The way to use these new features is very simple. Users simply click on the Gemini icon in the upper right corner of the spreadsheet and then propose data analysis requirements in natural language. Google provides several practical scenario examples such as financial forecasting “Forecasting Net Income for the Next Quarter based on historical data,” customer support analysis “Creating a heat map of support cases by category and device,” marketing effectiveness evaluation “Analyzing conversion rates for the three best performing channels,” and inventory management “Identifying whether there are abnormalities in product inventory levels.”
Google revealed that Gemini implements complex multi-layer analysis by creating and running Python code, while for simpler requests, it may be calculated using traditional formulas. To ensure accurate results, Google recommends that users’ data should be in a consistent format, contain clear titles, and avoid missing values. This upgrade represents another important milestone in Google's integration of artificial intelligence technology into productivity tools, aiming to help business users process and understand data more efficiently.
