At the 2025 Shanghai AWE Exhibition, Tmall launched an AI design tool called "Homework", which is a major innovation in the e-commerce industry. Designed for merchants in the home appliance, home and home improvement industries, this tool provides an efficient design solution. Merchants only need to upload product pictures to generate scene pictures of multiple styles in one click, with the effect comparable to professional photography. This innovative tool will significantly enhance merchants' competitiveness in visual marketing.
"Homework" not only has AI studio shooting function, but also can generate scene pictures of more than 80 styles. Merchants can upload reference pictures or enter text for custom design. In addition, the newly launched AI modeling function can simulate real-life effects. For example, when an AI model lies on a pillow, the wrinkles in the picture are almost impossible to distinguish its authenticity. This high simulation effect makes merchants more attractive when displaying their products.

The person in charge of the Mousse brand said that the AI design assistant has greatly liberated the basic work of designers and allowed them to focus on creative design. In the past year, nearly 2,000 scene pictures were generated using "home works", including more than 900 pictures containing models, saving more than 1.4 million yuan in design costs.
Up to now, "homework" has attracted more than 130,000 merchants to use it, including Genji Muji, Mousse, Quanyou and other well-known brands. Yu Cheng, homework product manager at Tmall, emphasized that AI technology can help merchants significantly improve operational efficiency, compress the traditional 2-3-day design process to complete within a few minutes, and maintain real visual effects.
In addition to AI design tools, Tmall has also launched a series of AI tools in the fields of live broadcast, marketing and services, aiming to comprehensively improve the operating efficiency of home appliances and home furnishing merchants. In terms of live broadcast, merchants only need a green screen to create virtual live broadcast scenarios; while digital people who are official live broadcasts on Taobao can provide all-weather live broadcast services. In terms of marketing, AI Xiaowan provides merchants with personalized consultation and advertising solutions, saving greatly time.
In terms of service, the intelligent customer service system "Dianxiaomi" realizes accurate Q&A through advanced models, effectively reducing customer service costs. At the same time, the business manager platform integrates a variety of functions, helping merchants save about 30% of their time every day, greatly improving productivity.
At this exhibition, Tmall also displayed the latest AI products that cooperated with many home appliance technology brands, including AI refrigerators, sweeping robots, etc. In addition, the virtual home experience cabin jointly created by Taobao Vision and Tmall Home Life has further improved consumers' shopping experience and marked a new trend in AI shopping in the future.
