Against the backdrop of the booming development of the field of artificial intelligence, ByteDance’s Doubao Mockup Team (Seed) recently held a full-staff meeting, marking the team’s important decision in the future development direction. The meeting was co-chaired by Zhu Wenjia and Wu Yonghui, the new head of basic AI research. This is also the first time that the two leaders have attended the same stage, attracting widespread attention in the industry.
At the meeting, Zhu Wenjia and Wu Yonghui made it clear that the primary goal of the Seed team is to "exploration of intelligent caps", which will become the core orientation of the team's future work. They noted that exploring the boundaries of intelligence is a long-term task, and the team will conduct in-depth research around the published AGI research program, “Seed Edge.” Zhu Wenjia mentioned that encouraging team members to participate in challenging research topics and explore uncertain and forward-looking AI technologies will be one of the key points this year.

Wu Yonghui emphasized the importance of basic research and said that he would increase resource investment in the Seed Edge project, including providing more computing power to support long-term research development. He mentioned that Seed hopes to be an organization that can attract and cultivate top talents, emphasizing that the use and cultivation of internal talents are key to the success of the team.
In terms of organizational culture, the meeting also discussed how to enhance the openness and inclusion of the team to create an environment that encourages innovation. To this end, ByteDance decided to cancel the quarterly OKR and semi-annual assessment of the Edge project, aiming to provide the team with a more stable research environment and reduce the pressure caused by the assessment. Wu Yonghui hopes that through such changes, the team's creativity and research depth will be enhanced.
In addition, the team also mentioned that some small and medium-sized Dense models may be considered in the future to promote the application of technology in the community. Such initiatives not only help to enhance the influence of the Seed team, but also promote external cooperation and communication.
This member meeting not only demonstrates ByteDance's ambitions in the field of AI, but also lays a solid foundation for future development.
