At the Dassault Systems 3DEXPERIENCE World Summit held in Houston, USA, Marc Raibert, founder of Boston Dynamics, was interviewed and revealed that its intelligent robotics institute, the AI Institute, has purchased robots from Chinese robot company Yushu Technology to conduct capability testing. Marc Raibert said that although Yushu Technology is a competitor, he believes it is very valuable to buy these robots to understand their capabilities.
He mentioned: "Our lab bought Yushu's humanoid robots and several relatively cheap small robots. Even if we are competitors, it is still very important to understand their technology." He attended the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai last summer, and was amazed at the 27 humanoid robots displayed by Yushu Technology and communicated with Yushu's CEO, believing that their work was excellent.
Marc Raibert particularly emphasized the wave of artificial intelligence innovation in China triggered by DeepSeek. He said: "I'm very happy to see innovations like DeepSeek originated in China, but this is just the beginning. The entire AI field is still evolving, and we haven't come to an end, and there will be more technological innovations in the future."
Speaking of general artificial intelligence (AGI), Marc Raibert pointed out that building hardware and software are equally important, but when to implement AGI is a complex question, and it is mixed with some hype. He believes that intelligence has many dimensions, and machines still have a long way to go to achieve complete intelligence, which is closely related to ethics and regulation, so it is difficult to predict when AGI will arrive.
Key points: Marc Raibert revealed that its institute has purchased Yushu Technology's robot to test its capabilities. He believes that despite being a competitor, understanding the other party's technology is still important. Marc Raibert stressed that China's AI innovation is still developing and there will be more technological breakthroughs in the future.
