Recently, the University of Hawaii has reached an important collaboration with Google to provide free artificial intelligence training courses to students and employees on 10 campuses across the state. This move not only provides participants with the opportunity to learn cutting-edge technologies, but also opens up new possibilities for them in career development, especially in popular areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics and information technology support.
Through this collaboration, University of Hawaii students will be able to participate in the Google Career Certificate program for free. The project has established employer alliances with more than 150 well-known companies, including Deloitte, Ford, Xerox, T-Mobile, Wells Fargo and Google. Students who complete the course will have the opportunity to obtain relevant positions in these businesses. According to statistics, more than 350,000 people in the United States have completed this certificate program, and more than 70% of graduates have achieved career breakthroughs within six months of graduation, including obtaining new jobs, promotions or salary increases.

In addition, Google's basic artificial intelligence courses are designed in a simple and efficient manner, and can only be completed in about five hours. The course covers the basic skills of artificial intelligence, tips, best practices, and how to use AI responsibly. Through videos, reading materials and interactive exercises, participants can gain practical experience in AI application. These skills are not only suitable for all walks of life, but also help students significantly improve their efficiency at work.
University of Hawaii President Wendy Hensel highly recognized the collaboration, which she believes is an important opportunity for the community to develop AI skills and helps to stay ahead of the rapidly changing technology environment. Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke also stressed that the cooperation is not only to keep up with the pace of technological development, but also to give Hawaii young people a competitive advantage in today's economy.
Lisa Gevelber, founder of Google's "Grow with Google" project, said Google is committed to helping Hawaii students prepare for the most insecurity of today. Through collaboration with the University of Hawaii, students will be able to obtain learning opportunities in Google Career Certificates and AI Basics courses to master key skills to adapt to future career development.
Students who have successfully completed the course will receive certificates that can be displayed on their career profiles and resumes. Interested students and staff can access the University of Hawaii and Google’s AI Basics course registration page and follow the instructions to register. In addition, students at the University of Hawaii now have access to Google’s next-generation generative artificial intelligence tool, Gemini, for free, which will help them make greater progress in learning in various disciplines.
