Zoom recently announced a new round of feature upgrades to its AI assistant, Zoom AI Companion, marking the transformation of this tool from a personal assistant to a true "smart proxy". These new features are designed to improve the interactive experience and productivity of users during video conferencing. Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, said the evolution of AI Companion will greatly enhance productivity and collaboration at work.
New features in Zoom AI Companion include "Zoom Tasks", which recognizes to-dos in meeting summary, chat history, and emails, and automatically completes tasks such as scheduling subsequent meetings or generating documents. This feature is expected to be officially launched at the end of this month, and users can also embed it into Zoom documents.

Another exciting feature is the new voice recorder, which users can access through the Zoom Workplace mobile app. It can transcribe, summarize and capture the content of offline conversations, making it easier for users to review later.

In addition, Zoom has launched the "Conference Agenda" function to help the meeting stay on track, and the host can set timers for different topics and get real-time notes generated by AI during the meeting. These two new features are expected to be launched in May.
In order to facilitate users to manage a hybrid office experience, Zoom has also launched the "workspace reservation" function of AI assistant. This feature can show colleagues' office attendance and suggest appropriate attendance days based on existing meetings, and even book meeting rooms or tables for meetings. This feature is also scheduled to be launched in May.
In Zoom products, Zoom Docs will also receive enhanced features from AI Companion, such as the Advanced Reference feature, which will be available in June to create writing plans based on internal and external references and put them into documents. In addition, Zoom will also launch a data table creation feature in July, where users can ask AI assistants to create data tables from content, including conference summary.
For users who want to get more AI support, Zoom has also launched the "Customized AI Assistant" additional function, where users can customize technologies according to their needs, including creating custom meeting templates, meeting summary templates, building professional term dictionaries, etc. The additional feature costs $12 per user per month and will be launched in April.
These new features of Zoom AI Companion are still free for paid users. With these innovations introduced, Zoom continues to work more efficiently in various industries, including industry-specific applications for frontline workers, medical professionals, educators and more.
