The Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence R&D Center (HKGAI), led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, officially released its first local generative artificial intelligence model - HKGAI V1 on February 25. This major breakthrough has injected new vitality into Hong Kong's artificial intelligence ecosystem and marked an important progress in Hong Kong in this cutting-edge technology field. The launch of HKGAI V1 is not only a milestone in Hong Kong's scientific and technological innovation, but also provides a new direction for the development of global artificial intelligence technology.
HKGAI V1 is the first large model in the industry that provides full parameters fine-tuning and continuous training based on DeepSeek technology. It has a strong local knowledge base support and can understand and generate answers in multiple languages such as Cantonese, English and Mandarin. The launch of this model not only demonstrates Hong Kong's innovative capabilities in artificial intelligence technology, but also provides new application possibilities for local enterprises and citizens. Through multilingual support, HKGAI V1 can better serve Hong Kong's diversified social needs and provide intelligent solutions for users of different language backgrounds.

At the press conference, Sun Dong, director of the Innovation and Technology and Industry Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said that artificial intelligence is leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and Hong Kong is not absent from this wave of technology. He hopes that HKGAI V1 can quickly serve the industry and citizens, provide practical and intelligent services to the public, and expand to the global Chinese community in the future. Sun Dong's speech emphasized Hong Kong's strategic layout in the field of artificial intelligence and the important role of HKGAI V1 in promoting Hong Kong's digital transformation.
Guo Yike, Chief Vice President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Director of HKGAI R&D Center, emphasized that the launch of HKGAI V1 will greatly enhance the application capabilities of artificial intelligence in actual scenarios, and help Hong Kong's digital transformation and the construction of the global artificial intelligence ecosystem. At present, HKGAI V1 has covered five major application scenarios, can answer user questions in real time, assist in writing documents, generating conference summary, and provide relevant Hong Kong laws and case references. It is particularly worth mentioning that under the coordination of the Digital Policy Office of the SAR Government, about 70 departments have participated in the trial of HKGAI V1 to promote its use in office applications. This wide range of application scenarios demonstrates the potential of HKGAI V1 in improving government work efficiency and public service quality.
The launch of HKGAI V1 not only reflects Hong Kong's efforts in the field of artificial intelligence research and development, but also lays the foundation for Hong Kong's future technological development. We hope that this technology can better serve society and the economy and help Hong Kong to be competitive in the global science and technology field. With the continuous optimization and expansion of HKGAI V1, Hong Kong is expected to make more breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence and contribute more to global scientific and technological development.
