Introduction to ASP Programming (I): Install and configure the server
Given that the ASP scripting language is interpreted and run in server-side IIS or PWS, and can dynamically generate ordinary HTML web pages and then transmit them to the client for browsing. We need to debug on this machine, so our personal computer requires that it has the function of a server.
Don’t worry if you see the word “server”: My computer has such a solid configuration and poor performance, can’t it be matched? rest assured! To set up a server means installing more software, and you only use it yourself, so there is no need to worry too much. So what software should I install? We just saw that it is "explained and run in IIS or PWS". It is obvious that just installing IIS or PWS is enough.
What is IIS? IIS is the abbreviation of Internet Information Server, which is the web server promoted by Microsoft. What about PWS? It seems a bit old:) In the early days in WIN98, of course, there are still operating systems that people use now. PWS (Personal Web Server) is the most easily obtained web server for ordinary users: you can find the pws installer in the Add_on/pws directory of the installation disk of win98. And IIS is what we recommend and is also used by most friends, so it is necessary.
1. Open the control panel
2. Select "Add/Remove Windows Components" in the control panel to open the window
3. Click "Add/Remove Windows Components" and wait for a moment. The Windows Component Wizard window appears. Tick "Select Internet Information Services (IIS)"
4. Click Next in the "Windows Component Wizard". Start installing and configuring our server IIS.
5. Wait for the progress bar to run to the finish line. . . Finally, the copying of the files is completed, and the configuration server is also completed accordingly.
6. The IIS server is OK to install, so what is the specific use? How to use it?
First of all, one of the functions of IIS is to explain the execution of ASP web page code and display the results. Of course, for now, your machine acts as both a server and a client. This technology is transparent to you. You don’t need to and need not study its principles, and just understand and apply it.
Then open your browser, whatever IE, NS, TE or MYIE, as long as it is a browser that can browse the web, enter it in its address bar:
Just check it out http://localhost/. The current window appears to indicate that it has been successful: the WEB service is running!
7. That's all right? Do you know what to do next? Very clueless, right? After all my efforts to learn it, I just read an ASP page of someone else.
So what should I do it myself and debug my ASP webpage?
First of all, you have to think that your ASP files must always be placed in one place.
