The Java 2D API provides Java programs with two-dimensional images, text and graphics capabilities through the extension of the Abstract Window Toolbox (AWT). This complex rendering package supports linear images, text and graphics, providing flexible and powerful frameworks for developers of rich user interfaces, complex drawing programs and image processors. Java 2D objects appear in a plane, called the user coordinate system space, and the device coordinate system space. When an object is rendered on the screen or in a printer, the user space coordinate system is converted to the device space coordinate system.
