A Korean research team has successfully developed an AI image generation model called KOALA, which has attracted attention for its efficient generation speed and low hardware requirements. By applying "knowledge distillation" technology, KOALA achieves the amazing effect of generating high-quality images in 2 seconds with only 8GB of memory. This breakthrough allowed it to show significant advantages in comparison tests with OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 and DALL-E 2, significantly shortening the image generation time.
A team of Korean scientists developed an artificial intelligence image generation model called KOALA, which uses "knowledge distillation" technology to significantly reduce the model's hardware requirements. This model can generate high-quality images in 2 seconds and requires only 8GB of memory. Compared with OpenAI's DALL-E 3 and DALL-E 2 models, KOALA performed better when generating the same image task, being 12.1 seconds and 10.7 seconds faster respectively. The emergence of the KOALA model indicates that AI image generation technology is moving towards a more efficient and convenient application stage, providing new directions and possibilities for the future development of artificial intelligence. Its low hardware requirements also make it easier to popularize and apply, bringing a convenient image generation experience to more users. We look forward to further improvement and development of the KOALA model in the future, bringing us more surprises.
