OpenAI has been active in recent acquisitions. After acquiring the database company Rockset, it also acquired Multi (formerly known as Remotion), a startup company focusing on enterprise video collaboration platforms. With this acquisition, most members of the Multi team will join OpenAI to further enhance its strength in enterprise-level AI solutions. Multi's products are known for their convenient remote collaboration capabilities, support screen sharing with multiple people at the same time, and provide features such as custom shortcuts and automatic deep links. This move is considered to be part of OpenAI’s aggressive expansion strategy in the enterprise market. It echoes its previous cooperation with PwC and the launch of enterprise-customized AI models. It is expected to bring considerable revenue growth to OpenAI.
OpenAI is making a series of acquisitions. After acquiring database technology company Rockset, OpenAI has acquired a startup called Multi (formerly Remotion), which is developing a video-focused collaboration platform for enterprises.
According to people familiar with the matter, this transaction is actually an acquisition, and most of Multi’s team will join OpenAI after the transaction closes.
Multi's CEO Alexander Embiricos and co-founder Charley Ho, who previously worked at Dropbox and Google respectively, created a Zoom-based platform designed to allow remote teams to work together through video chat.
Features provided by Multi include screen sharing with up to 10 people simultaneously, customizable shortcuts, and automatic deep linking. Prior to this exit, Multi raised $13 million in cash from venture capital firms including Greylock and First Round Capital, according to Crunchbase data.

Like the Rockset acquisition, the Multi acquisition appears to be in line with OpenAI's overall strategy of investing heavily in enterprise solutions of late. OpenAI recently revealed that the enterprise version of its AI-based chatbot platform ChatGPT has nearly 600,000 users, including 93% of all Fortune 500 companies. The five-person Multi team will join OpenAI after the transaction closes.
In May, OpenAI signed an agreement with PwC to resell OpenAI's tools to other businesses. A month ago, the company launched a customized AI model tuning and consulting program for enterprises. These corporate purchases appear to be paying off, with OpenAI's revenue expected to exceed $3.4 billion this year.
