The editor of Downcodes learned that mental health startup Yung Sidekick recently announced that it has received US$825,000 in pre-seed financing to develop an artificial intelligence platform for mental health professionals. The platform aims to reduce the heavy administrative burden on psychologists by automatically generating treatment records and reports through artificial intelligence technology, allowing them more time to focus on patient care. The funding will be used to accelerate product development and launch new features, such as AI assistants and AI-driven customer chat capabilities, to make the treatment experience more efficient and comprehensive.
Mental health startup Yung Sidekick has secured $825,000 in pre-seed funding to develop an artificial intelligence platform targeted at mental health professionals. The platform captures therapist audio of a session and automatically generates a recording, from which artificial intelligence can extract progress notes and detailed treatment reports that can be used in electronic health records in just 2 minutes.
The goal of the Yung Sidekick platform is to reduce the administrative burden on psychologists, allowing them to devote more time to meaningful interactions with clients. “Every minute spent on paperwork is one less minute spent on patient care,” said company co-founder Stanley Efrem.

The new pre-seed funding will allow the company to accelerate its product development and launch new capabilities that will streamline oversight, evaluation and customer interactions, the company said. For example, the company is launching an artificial intelligence assistant that therapists can use to counsel clients. AI can quote something the client has said during therapy or remind the therapist of specific details about their personal experience or treatment plan.
Yung Sidekick CEO and co-founder Michael Redd said the company plans to roll out more patient-centric features, such as AI-driven customer chat, to create a more comprehensive and effective treatment experience for both sides of the treatment process.
The platform is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliant, does not store personal health information or client details, every report and note generated is anonymous, and all recordings are deleted immediately after processing. There is also a "dictated review" feature for therapists who don't like to record sessions.
Yung Sidekick’s AI platform is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and quality of mental health services, resulting in a more positive experience for mental health professionals and patients. The editor of Downcodes will continue to pay attention to the subsequent development of the platform.
