Jingchu Net (Hubei Daily Net) News (Reporter Sun Yongjun, Zheng Yiming Correspondent Qiu Chan) What is artificial intelligence? What are the development trends, changes and opportunities of artificial intelligence? What true meaning of artificial intelligence can be learned from traditional Chinese culture? On October 27, Wuhan Engineering University hosted a special lecture, delivered by Professor Zhu Songchun, a global leader in the field of artificial intelligence, chair professor of Peking University, and chief scientist of Hubei Institute of Artificial Intelligence. With the title "General Artificial Intelligence: Towards an Intelligent Era of Human-Machine Symbiosis", he kicked off the series of "Artificial Intelligence General Courses" in ordinary undergraduate universities in Hubei Province, attracting widespread attention from teachers and students in universities across the province.
Zhu Songchun discussed the development trends, changes and opportunities of artificial intelligence in the lecture, and interpreted the deep meaning of AI from the perspective of traditional Chinese culture. He emphasized that the core of artificial intelligence lies in the evolution from mathematical models to cognitive architecture and value alignment. He also introduced the world's first general-purpose intelligent agent prototype "Tongtong" independently developed by his team. This agent has demonstrated the ability to adapt to and understand the environment equivalent to that of a 3- to 4-year-old child, indicating that general artificial intelligence will contribute to social governance, Bringing far-reaching changes in areas such as smart cities.
Zhu Songchun encouraged students to closely integrate learning with national development, embrace the era of intelligence with an open vision, explore the deep integration of artificial intelligence and humanities and social sciences, and emphasized the revolutionary impact of AI technology on education. He said that innovative AI courses and scenarios are expanding the boundaries of higher education, making high-quality teaching more popular, and the interdisciplinary integration of AI technology provides new momentum for education, economic and social development.

It is reported that this "Artificial Intelligence General Course" series of activities was organized and carried out by the Hubei Institute of Artificial Intelligence entrusted by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. It totaled 32 hours and was divided into three modules: general knowledge foundation, cutting-edge progress and practical training. Professor Zhu Songchun’s team will lead students to gradually understand and learn the basic knowledge of AI, and cultivate data thinking, computational thinking and intelligent thinking. The course will be conducted simultaneously through offline teaching and online live broadcast, aiming to allow more college students to participate and quickly integrate into the development track of the field of artificial intelligence.
