Alternative ways to make pictures clear

1. Open the original image and copy the background layer.

2. Image-Adjustments-Decolorize.

3. Filter - Others - High Contrast Retention, adjust the radius to make the image weakly outline (generally set within 4)

4. Change the blending mode to Overlay.
5. Duplicate the copied layer a few more times until you are satisfied.
The original image becomes clearer with each copy.
