The VL Gothic Font Family is a modern gothic Japanese TrueType font based on M+ outline fonts and has the following characteristics:
The parts derived from M+ FONTS have almost never been altered, but the parts derived from the ripple font have been newly recreated with about 2,500 glyphs using Project Vine and Daisuke SUZUKI, mainly using common kanji characters.
In addition, the uppercase letters of full-width alphanumeric characters, symbols, and Greek letters are modified based on the M+1P alphabet.
VLGothic includes the VL PGothic font, a proportional font combined with M+ 1C Regular, and the VL Gothic font, a fixed width font combined with M+ 1M Regular.
The license for the entire VL Gothic Font is the modified BSD license (The 3-Clause BSD License).
For parts derived from M+ FONTS, the M+ FONTS PROJECT license applies. See the attached LICENSE_J.mplus.
Parts derived from the Rizanami Gothic font and some characters modified based on these parts will be licensed under the modified BSD license, just like the Rizanami font. See the attached README.sazanami for licensing the original ripple font.
Other Characters added independently in the VL Gothic font family, and characters created independently based on M+ font parts (kanji and symbols modified after May 6, 2007) are listed under the same license as M+ fonts.
In addition, for applications that do not intend to be reused as a font, such as embedding in a document, it does not fall under the Redistribution section below and can be used without restrictions.
