Features
- The main alphanumeric characters are adjusted to half-width based on Roboto Mono.
- We have implemented variations that suit Unicode's East Asian Width handling.
- It is intended to be used in conjunction with regular Japanese uniform width fonts.
- Includes ASCII code, Ambiguous symbols from JIS X 0208, ruled elements and block elements for console terminals.
Combining with your favorite Japanese font
Japanese hiragana, katakana, and kanji are not included so that they can be used in combination with your favorite Japanese uniform width font.
- In the browser, you can freely combine them by writing them in
font-family CSS. - Many apps can use the registry
FontLink on Windows.
Three variations
Unicode's East Asian Width Ambiguous and Neutral combinations are supported for both half-width and full-width combinations.

Common parts
- The Roboto Mono has been adjusted to half-width to reduce the height of some lowercase letters.
- The parentheses and symbols were created with an emphasis on the balance between coding and full-width characters.
Illusion N (Narrow)
- Character width compatible with international console environments with Unicode support.
- JIS X 0208 Ambiguous symbols are designed in half-width.
- Circled numbers
⑩ Roman numerals Ⅳ and others are also implemented as half-width.
Illusion W (Wide)
- Character width compatible with traditional Shift_JIS and EUC-JP.
- The Ambiguous symbols of JIS X 0208 are implemented in full-width width.
- Neutral for bordered line elements and block elements is treated as half-width.
- Powerline Symbols for vim's
ambiwidth=double are also full-width.
Illusion Z (Zenkaku)
- The character width is the same as many Japanese uniform width fonts.
- Neutral for bordered line elements and block elements is also treated as full-width.
Combination with Japanese uniform width fonts
browser
- It can be combined relatively freely, such as Meilio and Yu Gothic.
- To adjust the gap between lines in the lines, use
line-height: 1.25 in conjunction with the line-height.

You can combine them in this way.
In addition, for BIZ UDゴシック, if AvgCharWidth of OS/2 table is a uniform width font that is not 1/2 of UnitsPerEm in head table, the characters will overlap when combined with FontLink.

procedure
- Open
src/Illusion-*.sfd with FontForge.- The glyphs derived from Roboto Mono reduce the X coordinate to 83.0078125%.
- Italic glyphs are placed in the private area on the 15th floor U+Fxxxx.
- The full-width glyphs are placed in the private area on the 16th side of U+10xxxx.
- It does not support full-width italics.
- Outputs TrueType font to
src/Illusion-*.ttf .- Check only the "OpenType Specifications" option.
- Run
python build.py to generate it in dist/ .
