LXGW Neo XiHei / Xiawu Xinxi Black

A Simplified Chinese sans-serif font derived from IPAex Gothic.
A Chinese bold font derived from "IPAexゴシック".

Font introduction

This is a Chinese open source font based on IPAex bold, and it is an attempt to transform the Japanese font into a standardized font in mainland China.

This font tries to transform it into a standard Chinese character shape based on the original characters "IPAex bold" and "Xiawu inheritance clear black" (returning and repeating); simplifying the output of some parts (such as the output of the "kou", "ri", "门", "门" and "shan" parts in the characters such as "家", "门", "门" and "门"), making the shape of the characters more simple. In addition, Greek letters and Cyrillic letters have been redone, which are basically the same as the original font Latin letters, and are more suitable for modern Greek and Cyrillic typesetting; new display support for Vietnamese Latin characters are added. In terms of symbols, it supports special symbols such as the Eight Trigrams of the Book of Changes and the Sixty-Four Trigrams of the Book of Changes, the Eighty-One Trigrams of the Taixuan Classic, the Mahjong Symbol, the Chinese Chess Symbol, the calculation number, and the counting of the "positive" character.

"Xiawu Xinxi Black" supports Unicode Variation Sequences (UVS) and is used to select tadpole quotation mark widths. Click here to view a list.

Font vocabulary

Currently, this font contains 22,000 characters, including 20,992 characters in the basic area of CJK unified ideogram text, and sporadic Chinese characters in the extended area A to I.

It contains the 8105 characters of the general standard Chinese character table. In addition, it adds some external characters as needed based on the preliminary compilation table of the external characters.

Things to note

I am not a professional designer and have not considered the aesthetics of the design, so the structure may look a little ugly, and the characters added may feel a little inconsistent with the original version. In addition, due to the hasty time and not enough time to carefully revise, the splicing of some characters will be very stiff, but better than nothing. If there are any suggestions for font optimization or adjustment, please give feedback in Issue #4. If there are any urgent requests for adding characters, please give feedback in Issue #5. Do not open a separate topic for easy organization.
Since the overall glyph style of Xinxi Black is G-mark, traditional characters also follow the G-mark (mainly refer to the G-source glyph in the Unicode code table, if there is no G-source glyph, the imaginary G-source glyph is derived based on the relevant component categories). There is also the "Xiawuxiiiii" that returns to the old-style printed characters.
Since the original open source font of this font has only one word weight, if you make multi-word weights based on the standard of multiple mainstream multi-word weight bold, instead of simply mechanically thickening and thinning, it will take more time and energy; in addition, although the original font of IPAexGothic TB Gothic has multiple word weights, it is a commercial font and needs to be purchased for a fee, so there is no plan to make multi-word weights, so please understand.
Provides "Xiawu XinxixiHei Screen" and slightly bold and adjusts the measurement, which is more suitable for PC and Android mobile phone screen display.
Provide "Xiawu Xinxi Hei Fusion/LXGW Neo XiHei Fusion", complete the basic area and expand all Chinese characters in Area A, reaching the word collection range of GB 18030-2022 realization level 2. Due to the differences in style between IPA-based fonts and Droid Sans Fallback, there will be a certain sense of incongruity in the mixing arrangement.
Provides "New Clear bold / SimXiHei", which is compatible with the "Bold" measurement parameters of the Windows system and uses a GBK character set, so that documents that have already used "Bold" on the Windows system can be replaced with "New clear bold" without large-scale re-type. There is also a monospace version of "New Black Code / NeoXiHei Code" suitable for programming display.

This font is derived from the "IPAexゴシック" developed and published by IPA and is authorized in accordance with the IPA Open Font License 1.0 (IPA Font License 1.0).
When using this font, please comply with the provisions of "IPA Font License 1.0, IPA Font License 1.0, v1.0).
You can use this font for print, digital documents, film and television content, poster advertising, packaging, publication design, and various other design purposes, including commercial and non-commercial use;
It can also be modified into derivatives based on this font, but derivative font names (including program names, file names, and font names) must not contain the word "IPA", and derivative fonts must be subject to the same authorization license (IPA Font License 1.0 and SIL OFL 1.1 are incompatible).
According to the relevant terms of IPA Font License 1.0, font files must be provided for free without postage, storage media fees and handling fees, and font files must not be sold separately.
