"Zhuque Imitation Song" is an open source Imitation Song font project created by Xuan Ji, aiming to ultimately provide high-quality, multi-language, text Imitation Song solution.
As one of the four basic Chinese fonts of "Song Hei Imitation Kai", imitation Song has long lacked the choice under an open source license. We hope that "Sugu Bi Song" can make up for this gap and contribute to the open source software and TeX community.
At the beginning of the last century, the imitation Song movable characters once flourished, and development and application were popular. However, time has changed, the imitation Song on the market has finally been restrained by the "Huafeng Zhen Song" series, which is also the imitation Song style that most people are familiar with today. "The Vermillion Bird imitates the Song Dynasty" is based on the imitation of the Song Dynasty in the Republic of China "Southern Song Dynasty". On the premise of meeting the needs of modern printing, it tries to bring a ray of fresh air to the imitation of the Song Dynasty in the main text.
The "Surprising Bird Song" we released is still a "preview beta version" and is still in the early stages of the project; whether it is the design style, word count, or font shape, or layout quality, it does not represent the official version. therefore,
If you have any questions, suggestions, or cooperation intentions, we also welcome you to join the "Sugu Matsu Song Feedback" WeChat group; or move to Issues to submit it.

Xuan Ji is trying a brand new Chinese font library design model. Thanks to the latest technology we have developed, Xuanji's designers can directly use artificial intelligence as a design tool, and we can also develop "Surf Bird" in an iterative way.
During the testing phase, we published a questionnaire with 335 people participating in the filling, with 72 valid professional opinions. The questionnaire conclusions have a lot to do with us improving the shape of Zhuque and reasonably planning the follow-up work direction.
Even with the support of technology, our ambitious goal will give the "Surf Bird" project an unimaginable workload. In order to make the project progress faster and more sustainable, we also hope to get more support.
Version and download links will be updated on the Releases release page.
The idea of developing an open source imitation song library first started in early 2021, and it is a challenge that we think is more meaningful and difficult after the "Future Black" project. With the deepening of design research and technological progress, especially the explosion of AIGC technology since last year, this idea has become possible today.
"The Vermillion Bird imitates the Song Dynasty" was re-engraved from the movable type "Southern Song Dynasty" of the Republic of China, trying to give new life to this set of fonts that have been sleeping for decades. The Southern Song Dynasty was launched by the "Hundred Songs Case Printing Bureau" in 1932. Han Youzhi designed the original manuscript and Zou Genpei engraved characters. Once released, it is widely used in the printing of books and journals. The "Southern Song Dynasty" is different from most main text fonts, with a center of gravity slightly lower right; the central palace of the structure is tightened and the strokes are stretched, and the thickness of the strokes changes strongly; it is implicit and beautiful and full of power, showing a strong "school atmosphere" when printing the title and the text.
Based on the movable type of "Southern Song Dynasty", "Surpriser Bird Imitation Song Dynasty" slightly weakens the contrast of the strokes, properly regulates the shape structure and layout effect, and at the same time retains the unique temperament and fun of "Southern Song Dynasty" to the greatest extent.
"Surpriser Bird" is one of the "Four Symbols" in Chinese traditional culture, the god of the seven constellations in the south. The name "Surpriser Bird" is consistent with the origin of "Southern Song Dynasty" and the brand name "Xuan Ji Chuangzi".
