LXGW Neo ZhiSong / Xiawu Xinzhisong / Xiawu Xinzhisong

A Chinese serif font derived from IPAex Mincho and IPAmj Mincho.
A Chinese Song font derived from "IPAex Ming Dynasty" and "IPAmj Ming Dynasty".

Font introduction

This is a Chinese open source font based on "IPAex Ming Dynasty" and "IPAmj Ming Dynasty". It is an attempt to transform the Japanese font into a standardized writing style in mainland China.

This font is the sister font of "Xiawu Xinxihei". Based on the original font of "IPAmj Ming Dynasty", it is tried to transform it into a standard font of mainland China. In addition, Greek letters and Cyrillic letters have been redone, which are basically the same as the original font Latin letters, and are more suitable for modern Greek and Cyrillic typesetting; new display support for Vietnamese Latin characters are added. In terms of symbols, it supports special symbols such as the Eight Trigrams of the Book of Changes and the Sixty-Four Trigrams of the Book of Changes, the Eighty-One Trigrams of the Taixuan Classic, the Mahjong Symbol, the Chinese Chess Symbol, the calculation number, and the counting of the "positive" character.

"Xiawu Xinzhisong" supports Unicode Variation Sequences (UVS) and is used to select tadpole quotation mark widths. Click here to view a list.

Font vocabulary

Currently, this font contains 22,000 characters, including 20,992 characters in the basic area of CJK unified ideogram text, and sporadic Chinese characters in the extended area A to I.

It contains the 8105 characters of the general standard Chinese character table. In addition, it adds some external characters as needed based on the preliminary compilation table of the external characters.

Things to note

I am not a professional designer and have not considered the aesthetics of the design, so the structure may look a little ugly, and the adjusted characters may feel a little inconsistent with the original version. In addition, due to the haste and insufficient time to carefully revise, the splicing of some characters will be very stiff, but it is better than nothing. If there are any suggestions for font optimization or adjustment, please give feedback in Issue #2. If there are any urgent requests for adding characters, please give feedback in Issue #3. Do not open a separate topic for easy organization.
Since the overall style of Xinzhisong is G mark, traditional characters also follow the G mark (mainly refer to the G source glyph in the Unicode code table, if there is no G source glyph to introduce an imaginary G source glyph based on the relevant component categories). There is also the "Xia Wu Zhi Song" which returns to the old-style printed characters.
Since the original authorized font of this font, IPAmjMincho has only one word weight, and the original font of IPAmjMincho TB Mincho has multiple word weights, it is a commercial font and needs to be purchased for a fee, so there is no plan to make a multi word weight, so please understand.
Provide "Xiawu Xinzhisong Fusion/LXGW Neo ZhiSong Fusion", complete the basic area and expand all Chinese characters in Area A, reaching the word collection range of level 2 in GB 18030-2022. Due to the differences in glyph shapes and the style differences between IPA-based fonts and GlyphWiki-based fonts, there will be a certain sense of incongruity in the mixing arrangement.
It provides "Xiawu Xinzhisong Screen Reading Edition/LXGW Neo ZhiSong Screen", which is slightly bolded based on the original font and adjusts the measurement data to be the same as Roboto, which is more suitable for PC and Android system display.
Provides "New Song Style/SimZhiSong", which is compatible with the "Song Style" measurement parameters of the Windows system. It uses a GBK character set, so that documents that have already used the "Song Style" of the Windows system can be replaced with "New Song Style" without large-scale re-type.

Authorization information

This font is derived from the "IPAex Ming Dynasty" and "IPAmj Ming Dynasty" developed and published by IPA, and is authorized in accordance with the IPA Open Font License 1.0 (IPA Font License 1.0).
When using this font, please comply with the provisions of "IPA Font License 1.0, IPA Font License 1.0, v1.0).
You can use this font for print, digital documents, film and television content, poster advertising, packaging, publication design, and various other design purposes, including commercial and non-commercial use;
It can also be modified into derivatives based on this font, but derivative font names (including program names, file names, and font names) must not contain the word "IPA", and derivative fonts must be subject to the same authorization license (IPA Font License 1.0 and SIL OFL 1.1 are incompatible).
According to the relevant terms of IPA Font License 1.0, font files must be provided for free without postage, storage media fees and handling fees, and font files must not be sold separately.
If you want to replace this font back to the original authorized font of IPA, please obtain the original authorized font "IPAex Ming Dynasty" from the IPA font download page, or obtain the "IPAmj Ming Dynasty" from the font download page of "IPAmj Ming Dynasty".
