Kronos (Kronos)

This is a simple Todo (Tasks Manager) application, designed on Kotlin, which uses the Room Database library to manage tasks. It also includes a notification function in order to remind users of tasks in certain dates and time.

Peculiarities

• Offline, privacy.
  • Therefore, no synchronization and there will be only maximum exports/imports.
• Create, read tasks.
• The tasks are local to be chopped using the database (Room Database).
• Notifications reminding you of the upcoming tasks.

System requirements

For the application of the application:

• Starting from Android 8 to Android 14 (tested)

For assembly of the application:

• Android Studio Iguana (2023.2.1)
  • It is possible below and higher, but I used the version 2023.2.1 for development
• GRADLE 5.1.1

Tasks for the future and completed tasks

Main:

• Basic functionality with tasks. (Creation of tasks with a name, description and also receipt of notifications)
  • Obtaining a list of affairs
  • Adding tasks and removal
  • Editing elements of the list
    • Clickable links within the task (you need for links if they are)
      • Displayed if you click on the task itself
  • The ability to set the date and time for each task (reminders for one task)
• Data safety
  • The password is set by the user at the first entrance to the application
  • The password is encrypted with encryption algorithms
  • The password is requested at each exit and entry into/from the application.
  • When changing settings, you also need to enter a password.
  • After export/import ICS, you need to enter a password.
  • After the export of the database, you also need to enter a password.
  • After importing the database, you need to enter the password of the imported database.

Tasks for 3 semester (the most important and lungs are first):

• A bunch of disadvantaged fixes so that the application works correctly on Android 13 and above

• Statistics.

  • This functionality should provide in a visual form the statistics of the application - the number of completed and incomplete tasks, the number of created and deleted tasks, effectiveness (ratio of completed/unfulfilled tasks), etc.

• Problematic in terms of UI:

  • Folders for tasks.

    • Grouping of tasks in user categories - folders.
    • The user should be able to create a “folder” into which he can add tasks, when opening the “folder”, only the tasks added to it should be displayed.

  • Multiple reminders.

    • It is necessary to add the possibility of establishing several notifications for one task, the latest notification should be taken as a deadline.

  • Substacles.

    • When creating or editing the task, it is necessary to add the function of adding subtasibility with the ability to mark it as “completed” or “not executed”.

For the future, most likely I will not have time to implement:

• Another idea about the calendar, but there are also problems in the UI with a slug is difficult and for a long time.

• The most problematic is also in terms of UI (most likely I will not have time to finish, to get it):

  • The gradual update of the application interface is the implementation of the original design. During the application testing, we found out that representatives of the target audience liked the original product design more, so we plan to restore it in the new version.

• Not suitable due to privacy:

  • Widget. The user should have the opportunity to quickly create a task through a widget on the desktop without the need to enter the application.
